Richard Kniffin was born and raised in Miami, Florida where he grew up fishing and diving. He bought his first boat at 13 and collected and sold tropical fish after school. At 19 he trained at Commercial Diving Center in California and then worked as a commercial diver, boat captain and even as island manager for a private island in the Exumas. In 1992 he joined the University of Miami to work on research vessels, first as crew on the 165' R/V COLUMBUS ISELIN and then as master of the 70' R/V CALANUS. After 9 years at sea working with scientists from around the world, he retired as master of the 96' X 40' Catamaran R/V WALTON SMITH, the most advanced coastal research vessel built to date. He uses his 30 plus years of boating experience to help his clients in every way possible, whether to buy the best boats, get listings sold or to advise on cruising the Bahamas and Florida. He primarily works with motor yachts, long range cruisers and sportfish boats from 45 feet and up. Richard lives with his wife and his daughter, when she's home from college, in Hollywood, FL. He enjoys sailing, fishing, and diving whenever possible. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable, he enjoys doing the best job possible for his clients.
